what to do with a dead body

ok... This is weird. I didn't realize that people researched things such as this...

Nowadays, the remains of your deceased loved ones can be made into:

240 pencils (average body) ... at least the lead part is from your loved one.
Or a bird feeder:
image
So, I guess these ideas came from a lady named Nadine Jarvis... umm... I just find this is so bizarre. Do you really want birds to eat out of something that's made from your late husband?
I don't know which one I dislike more... changing the body into a bunch of pencils or bird feeders...

Now...if you were to get a little bit of the carbon from a deceased loved one and made it into a diamond and set it in a ring or necklace to wear everyday... I could see that...

well... if you like it, you can find her ideas here. She actually creates other things also... most of which I think are artsy fartsy junk.

Time for some funnies

ok... take a look at these funnies!
My bf is a teaching assistant... I wonder if he ever gets any answers like these... Ok... it's kind of hard to read... sorry...
blondeanswerWhat an idiot... eee... maybe I shouldn't say that, she could be mentally challenged...

Police Attitude

I think when some people are given power, they easily become corrupt. Maybe it's even most people when you consider the famous Zimbardo experiment. 24 random middle class college students of healthy mind and body were separated into two groups: officers and prisoners. The experiment lasted for less than a week because "the officers" became so violent!

Maybe this explains what I call "police attitude." Have you ever watched the show, Cops, and thought to yourself, "Does he really need to handle that guy like that?" I sure have. Keep in mind, these police officers KNOW they're on camera too!
Time and time again, we hear about police brutality...
I came upon this horrific story of a man, with a pristine record that was killed for absolutely nothing.

This unarmed man was zapped with a taser 3 times, and then shot 3 times directly at his vital organs. He was trying with all his might to raise his hands up, but this was impossible given the fact that they were shocking him to the extent that he was throwing up all over. A contractor and his wife and two children witnessed the entire scene. Their protests did nothing.

How sad is that?!? In front of children too...

Now, since this was a murder committed by agents of the state, the WPD has taken full actions to cover their tracks.
In fact, if the victim had not been a marine with absolutely NO history of anything bad, and a participant of volunteering, I may not have ever come across this article.

Inspiring Art

Usually, art that is detailed and has a strange inner glow appeals to me. So, for instance, Girl with a Pearl Earring, or Edgar Degas really inspire me. It's very haunting...

Anyway, I found this artist Amy Sol recently, and even though it's definitely very different from what I generally admire, I must say I LOVE IT!

It's very fairy tale like. And, anyone who knows me well knows that I love fairy tales, and the mood it gives off. It doesn't matter if they're Persian, Chinese, Swedish... I love all fairy tales... and it's hard to find one that I haven't read already.

But check it out!

I can't get enough of this stuff! This may be my inspiration to get back into art again. My boyfriend every once in a while heckles me about it... since I have completely left that aspect of my life... However, this art is great to copy! Yes, yes, I just don't have the creativity at all... but I love copying art so I can have a very cheap (also not as good) version.
See... I am very cheap... Just the other night I had a DREAM about being cheap. I was with an old good friend and I was saying over and over, "Andy, NO, NO, it's too expensive." My boyfriend told me this when I woke up. He was awake because he is a hard worker and I have to sleep when it gets dark on weekdays.
Actually, being cheap is one of the reasons why I quit. Do you know how expensive canvases cost? geez!
It looks like Amy Sol uses wood as template... very smart and it works well too!

Yum Yum Space Food

Last week, for spring break, my boyfriend went to Washington DC and New York with a couple of his buddies. And, of course, he made a visit to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum! As a result, I got some freeze dried ice cream and strawberries, similar to the ones that were developed for the early Apollo flights.
Very romantic might I say... ice cream and strawberries with a fun nerdy twist! And, something that I haven't tried yet, also... although, I have not had the strawberries yet, but I bet they taste like the dried ones you get in some cereals.

Anyway, here are a few pics of them. If you want to get some, you can go to luvyduvy.com which is listed on the back of these packages of yummy items. The site kind of sucks... It doesn't really make ordering easy... and it suggests that you need to buy an order of at least 100? I don't know... maybe I'm wrong.

Freeze dried ice cream:

Here is a chunk of the chocolate part. There are three parts, strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate, as it is neapolitan. Bebe, my sweet little furball, as you can see in the corner of the photo liked to lick the vanilla and strawberry chunks. These pieces literally look like chalk and are very very light. The taste is very creamy and melt right in your mouth!
Freeze Dried Strawberries:
I have yet to taste these... but I assume they will be delicious as well!

What is wrong with me???

A long time ago (lol), when I was still in high school, about a week before the SATs, I broke out in hives... it was all over, my legs, arms, stomach, etc. It even made my lip swell up. I looked like a horrible version of a human duck, it was THAT big. But it only happened for a half of a day... and then magically, it was gone until college...
I had it on and off for a whole year... and then it disappeared, and now for the past 2 years, they're back, and god, they're annoying.

It doesn't bother me too much, because they only appear for about an hour each day... but god, they itch. Initially, I would itch them until I got little scabs... pretty disgusting, right? But, I've become a lot better about it... no scabs from my itching at all...

But, seriously, what is wrong with me? I refuse to go to the doctor... because I'm a tough a** when it comes to things like this. I won't go! Besides, they'll probably give me medicine, and I REALLY don't want that.
I try to stay away from medical dependency as much as possible.

It's not allergy due to lotion (too lazy most of the time to apply it anyway)... my skin's not dry... I really don't know what it could be. The only two things may be photosensitivity or stress... god, I hope it's not due to UV... doesn't seem to be anyway...

I woke up the other night from one nightmare after another. And, that very morning I had an epiphany; it occurred to me that I couldn't remember a single happy dream from the last year or two... How can this be? I used to have nothing but good dreams every single night filled with ridiculous wonderful inventions and vain discoveries of free designer clothing, flying etc... the nightmare being a rarity, usually consisting of a garrish strange monster rolling after me...
Now, my nights are only filled with very real nightmares... nightmares that are so realistic, things that I'm actually truly terrified of, things that have a good chance of happening.

I miss my continuous unblemished happy tamed skin... and having good nights...
God, I feel so embarrassed, because I hate being this way...

France opens Secret UFO files

http://www.alien-ufo-pictures.com/alg4big.jpg
France is the first nation to open its secret UFO files... and they unveiled it in a website form.

yea... I've tried it, and it's still way too busy. You can't get in...

I don't know how I feel about UFOs or aliens. I guess its definitely possible...
Either way, I'd be interested in taking a look at their 1600 reports over the last 5 decades.

Btw, the picture above is not from their database.

BULL!!!

Ok... recently, I have read a lot of inaccurate information from reputable sources. Seriously, do a little tiny bit of research and get your facts straight before you write. People are getting WAY too much credit than they deserve!

For example, MIT research on polyester sutures were blown WAY out of proportion.

According to Eurekalert!:
"With the help of a new type of suture based on MIT research, patients who get stitches may never need to have them removed."

Without their help, you can still get dissolvable stitches that never have to be removed! It's been around for years now, ok? geez! I'm annoyed, because wrong information is fed all the freaking time! The real inventors are disrespected and never get credited, and people who haven't done anything new are applauded.
If I was smart enough to come up with something novel, I'd want credit, damn it! Don't dish it out unfairly!

It's sad that someone like me, who has very little knowledge, biology wise, have picked up on so many mistakes on stem cell research (ESPECIALLY), etc, recently!

There are many types of dissolvable stitches already in existence. Ones made from synthetic fibers that the body can break down, like the ones above, ones from silk, processed collagen, etc.

Now, the MIT group is working with this synthetic to make a scaffold. This, I believe has not been done, but they haven't done this yet either... They are attempting to do so, so this may be of some merit in the future. But for now, don't call it the first dissolvable suture!

People have to be VERY careful about what they can believe on the internet (except you can always believe me, jk). It's the epitome of open source. Anyone can write about anything and pawn it off as truth!
Don't believe me?
Look, even HowStuffWorks knows about this...

PETA raked in nearly $29 million last year in income, much of it raised from pet owners who think their donations actually help animals. Instead, the group spends huge sums on programs equating people who eat chicken with Nazis, scaring young children away from drinking milk, recruiting children into the radical animal-rights lifestyle, and intimidating businessmen and their families in their own neighborhoods. PETA has also spent tens of thousands of dollars defending arsonists and other violent extremists.

Cutest Fart

Last weekend, as I was washing my face, I smelt a god awful odor. If you have ever gotten a whiff of cat poo, you know what it was that I experienced. It was THAT smell. I thought for a split second that Bebe had had her first accident. I turned to look at her, and she had this expression:
The image “http://a1272.g.akamai.net/7/1272/1121/20000915175500/www.peteducation.com/images/articles/9697flehmen.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
Her little mouth was gaping wide open, her eyes were wide and staring at me. I would move, and her wide eyes would follow me, and her mouth, her entire little body did not budge. I thought it was so funny. Every time I'd look at her she'd give me the same surprised gaping expression. I actually tried waking my boyfriend up to see because it was so funny. Her facial expression looked exactly like, "omg... I'm so embarrassed! You caught me letting out such a bad one!"
Anyway, unfortunately, this wasn't what she was doing. I guess it's flehmen, and she was just smelling her own scent.

Men like looking at anyone/anything's crotch

Image

They use eyetracking points to determine marketing strategies. Strange little differences on a template will make a viewer pay more attention.

Anyway, they included an interesting little factoid. Men fixate more on crotches, whereas women generally will only look at the face of a normally dressed person. And, I guess this applies to animals too. Men's eyes will drift to the crotch area... weird...

Bling for your TEETH?!?

Look very carefully on their teeth...

ok... so we've all heard of necklaces, earrings, rings etc... but, have you heard of teeth jewels? So, the closest thing that I can think of that would be related is a grill, but this is just a solitary tiny gem (could be made out of plastic or crystal) glued onto a tooth... I got this info originally from a fashion blog that I follow... god, makes me want to unsubscribe since they have such BAD taste in fashion...
Anyway, depending on where you get it (there's the do-it-yourself version and the dentist office version), it can last from 1 week to 8 years.
I guess the white and yellow gems are really gaining popularity in LA... god, their water must be really polluted...
To me, getting this would be an invitation for people telling you that you've got stuff stuck on your teeth...

Well... off my soapbox... if you like them and want to get a few for your pearly whites, go here.

weirdest deaths

Neatorama:

Death by Bookcase

Mariesa Weber was reported missing by her family for nearly two weeks before they found her in her bedroom, wedged behind a bookcase.

"I’m sleeping in the same house as her for 11 days, looking for her," her mother, Connie Weber, told the St. Petersburg Times. "And she’s right in the bedroom."

Both Weber and her sister had previously adjusted the television plug by standing on a bureau next to the shelf and leaning over the top. Her family believes Weber, who was 5-foot-3 and barely 100 pounds, may have fallen headfirst into the space.

Death by Garbage

Homer and Langley Collyer [wiki] were compulsive hoarders. The two brothers had a fear of throwing anything away and obsessively collected newspapers and other junk in their house. They even set up booby-traps in corridors and doorways to protect against intruders.

In 1947, an anonymous tip called that there was a dead body in the Collyer house, and after much initial difficulty getting in, the police found Homer Collyer dead and Langley no where to be found. About two weeks later, after removing nearly 100 tons of garbage from the house, workers found Langley Collyer’s partialy decomposed (and rat-chewed) body just 10 feet away from where they had found his brother.

Apparently, Langley had been crawling through tunnels of newspapers to bring food to his paralyzed brother when he set off one of his own booby-traps. Homer died several days later from starvation.

Whatever happened to Brian?

Brian MacKinnon... some of you may know him. He was the 32 year old who posed as a 17 year old in order to pursue his dream of becoming a physician. He was found out while he was in medical school. Supposedly, he had been doing well also, but his deception was too much, and he was released.
I guess now he's living out of a car... wow... that sucks.
Sure, he's a liar... but he was driven to do so only because he wanted to make something out of himself. When someone has such passion, and dreams, how can that be looked down upon so much?

Man desperate to revive dad's corpse

Abdul Rehman never got over his father's death from two years ago. His family claims that he went off his keeter. One night, he hijacked an ambulance and brought his father's body back to his house... He chanted magic spells and poured rose water over the corpse.
Obviously, his father did not come back from the dead, and now he faces a year in jail for defiling a corpse... This is very sad...

Did a cat determine your gender?

I have known for some time now that a pregnant woman around cat poo gives her a higher chance of getting a boy. The reasons for this are because of a mind controlling microbe that could be living in your cat! This microbe can also cause schizophrenia... yikes!
